About This Homepage

The Idea


While I was a foreign exchange student in America I felt sometimes very lonely, not only because i felt missunderstood, but also because I had to make my own decisions without feeling able to. Even though my organisation tried to help me f.i. when I had to look for a new host family I had to do a lot by myself. That was not always easy, and I often wished I had some other people who had been in the same situation to give me some tips. The same year I started programming in PHP (PHP Hypertext Processor)
Back home every 11th grader has to do a "Maturaarbeit" in order to be admitted to the graduation exams. This can be either a research paper or a little project on whatever one is interested in. I programmed this homepage for foreign exchange students (FES) or the ones who were a FES at some point in their lifes.
Hopefully one day people from all over the world will share their experiences with others here...

The Forum


The Forum consists of three different parts: the Blog, Tips & Tricks, and Questions & Answers. In the Blog everybody may post whatever he/she likes to, where as in the Tips & Tricks and Questions & Answers only posts concerning FES shall be published. Therefore, not everybody is allowed f.i. to create a tip or answer a question. In case of any post, which doesn\'t belong in the category of Tips & Tricks or Questions & Answers, administrators of this page will delete that post. To create a new post in the Blog:
  1. Click on Blog, Create New Post.
  2. The form to create a new post will appear.
  3. When you are done writing click on "Store".
  4. The newly created post will appear.
  5. To publish it click on "Publish". If the post should only be open to some authors click on "Publish to..." and mark all the users who should be allowed to view the post and publish it.
Note: as the author of a post it is possible to edit or delete it at anytime, except the thread is closed by an administrator.
